Professional Background

I have worked in the state education sector since 2007, teaching in Secondary Schools and Sixth Form Colleges. I have specialised in teaching Computer Science and ICT and have experience as a classroom teacher, Second in Department and Head of Department.

During my teaching career I have had the opportunity to be part of a number of initiatives and organisations aimed at improving the standards of teaching and outcomes for pupils, these include:

  1. Teaching and Learning Organisation – Building Learning Power
  1. Pearson Assessment– IT Moderator
  1. Cambridge Assessment – Computer Science exam marker

  1. BIMA – Digital Day event coordinator
  1. Computing at Schools – CAS member
  1. Cyber Discovery – Event coordinator
  1. Microsoft – Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, EduTech community member, Product Trainer

These experiences have supported my view on the importance of embracing and utilising technology to enhance education from Primary to Higher Education and beyond. More efficient use of Technology within education will lead to enhanced communication, improved collaboration, a better student experience and reduced teacher workload.

As with all elements related to Teaching and Technology the need for professional development is continuous. Some of the recent qualifications obtained include:

  1. Microsoft Certified Educator
  2. Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert
  3. Microsoft Power Platform Fundamentals

Being able to maintain my knowledge and skillset in relation to technical products and platforms helps me to better inform others.
